Job Opportunities
Program Coordinators (2 part-time positions)
We are seeking two part-time (10-12 hrs/week) Program Coordinators to help organize community-led, anti-racist education work in Whatcom County. Please send a letter of interest and resume (or any questions) to whatcomcare@gmail.com, with the subject line “Program Coordinator application” by September 3, 2025. We will be reviewing interested candidates during September 2025 and anticipate a start date in October, but recruitment will remain open until positions are filled. So you are encouraged to submit your application later as well, or email us to see if it has been filled. We encourage applications from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), LGBTQIA+ individuals, people with disabilities, and others from communities that have been historically excluded from leadership roles in education and nonprofit spaces.We are looking for two people who:
Are passionate about supporting racial equity and social justice in our public schools
Have lived experiences that inform their work to dismantle racism
Have experience building community connections, facilitating meetings, and navigating difficult conversations
Have experience with the public school system as either a student, parent, caregiver, or educator in some capacity
Understand the challenges faced by BIPOC students and the structural issues present within the K-12 system that result in racial inequities
Are collaborators, community builders, and critical thinkers who can navigate nuance
Aren’t shy about speaking truth to power when it comes to what students need to thrive and belong in our public schools
Can coordinate people (mostly volunteers) and projects, and can anticipate what’s needed to move this important work forward
Are able to approach this work with patience and trust - knowing when to speak up, when to listen and observe, and when to make space for others
